This is a Backstroke Starting System Base Unit which is designed to reduce the chance of slipping and to help make the starts faster. The S.R. Smith Backstroke Start System provides the option to easily add this capability to virtually any pool deck or starting block configuration. And it is FINA 2.10 compliant for swimming competitions.
On the Backstroke Starting System Base, the ledge is adjustable to five clearly marked positions: at water level and up to 40 mm both up and down in 20 mm increments. The spool is clearly marked to show the height of the ledge to water level (for compliance). Plus the ledge can be adjusted with one hand from in or out of the pool.
The Backstroke Start System is made with a combination of a HDPE base, vinyl-coated aluminum components, and polyester strapping. It is suitable for exposure to the hard elements found in both indoor and outdoor facilities.
