The Waterco SM36-80 Vertical Sand Filter is filament wound, has 3 inch connections, an 8 inch neck, and features an internal hydraulically efficient system which facilitates energy and water savings. The NSF Approved SM36-80 filter is ideal for low powered and energy efficient pumps. This filter is perfect for commercial swimming pools up to 50,760 gallons. It is a replacement and equal to Pentair TR140-C3.
The Waterco SM36-80 sand filters are manufacturer with high grade fiberglass and the latest in fiberglass winding technology. The filters are UV and corrosion resistant making them extremely durable and long lasting. The SM36 inner shell is constructed from fiberglass reinforced Isothalic polyester which is approved by NSF. They have a working pressure rating of 36 psi and a maximum working temperature of 122 degrees F.
Filament wound filters are equipped with Waterco’s exclusive “fishtail” laterals to improve its filtration and backwashing hydraulic efficiency. The laterals are hydraulically balanced to maximize water flow and filtration. Fishtail laterals provide effective coverage of the filter bed and balanced water flow during backwashing. Plus, the backwash time is significantly reduced, leading to a 30% savings of backwash water. Conventional laterals are not suitable for large-scale commercial filters.
The SM36-80 filters do not include a multiport valve. The six-position multiport valve designed for this filter is item #2290822 and can be purchased separately. The tank has a 10 year warranty and there is a one year warranty on parts.
The SM36-80 filters are extremely durable and will give you years of clean pool water. The filters will clean out everything larger than 3 – 40 microns. Sand filters still remain the most popular choice on the market for their durability and simplicity in maintenance.
