This is the new Spartan Combo Brush with grit and PBT bristles in a 50/50 ratio. The grit bristles are Silicon Carbide and the same bristles used by street sweepers. The PBT (Polybutylene) bristles are all purpose and stronger than the standard PP bristles used in the pool industry. Together, the Spartan Combo Brush combines best of both worlds.
The Pebble “Grit” bristles do not rust or poke like stainless steel. They are thicker and longer lasting than stainless which make them ideal for roougher surfaces pools like Pebble Tech and Diamond Brite. But they are safe to use on new plaster pools. Plus, the bristles float unlike stainless; so if they get dislodged, you can easily skim them.
The all purpose PBT bristles are stronger, thicker and harder than the standard PP bristles which allow for more efficient brushing. PBT does not become brittle and deteriorate quickly like PP. Plus PBT is heat and cold resistance when compared to a PP bristle.
The Spartan brushes come with all metal handles for extra strength, as well as patented magnetic end caps. These magnetic end caps add 4 inches of extra bristle length and makes removing metal objects from the bottom of the pool a simple task.
