This is a Midget Comparator Iron (Tripyridyl-s-triazine) Test Kit. The K-1716 Kit tests for total iron using the midget comparator and tripyridyl-s-triazine reagents.
Testing iron is useful for testing ferrous iron before it is oxidized (example would be the fill water). Once you’ve added chlorine it oxidizes nearly all the iron to gerric iron. But with this the K-1716, you will be able to test total iron.
Excessive iron in pools can cause staining and erode equipment.
